The key to achieve what you want in life is questioning. So many times you have asked me: how will I know it is the right career? How did you find it? What can I do more? (especially after last article where you needed to ask yourself 3 main questions about yourself) Today I have decided to make ready 3 main questions regarding making a decision and looking for a new career.
How can I develop myself?
Really important and key asking! Starting a new idea or finding a new job must give you space for development. The last thing you want in your life is being in the place where you cannot learn anything else. Or maybe you are there right now? You know the feeling and you don’t want to go over and over the same again. Don’t be afraid to ask what it will give you. Maybe you have the feeling that it is a bit of selfish way and you are right because in terms of YOUR development, it is your future which can influence a lot of aspects of your life. If you are not satisfied with what you do, you will not make people around you happy. Start from yourself.
Will my future career look like I visualise it?
Everyday action is really important in a career. If you figure out a job title which you want to do, you should ask yourself how your daily tasks list will look like. So many people would like to do what I do, however they don’t think about its daily commitment, problems. They think that being online is the easiest way ever to earn money. It is not. Having your own business is the hardest decision ever because you are responsible for your failure. Your day will not have a schedule from 9am till 5pm in the beginning. You will work 12-15 hours a day minimum, dealing with everything, not just with your favourite tasks. The same is with working for someone else. Even if you enjoy your job, there will always be parts of it that you will truly hate. However, if amount of enjoyable moments is higher that tough ones, it makes your everyday work more satisfied. Sometimes our imagination of some careers is far away from the reality, so think about it before jumping in a new role.
Can I still enjoy it in 10 years’ time?
This powerful question came to my mind as soon as I made the decision about going into career coaching. The answer will not come in one day, just because it contains more ambivalent feelings. To answer this question properly, you need to be aware of your personal values, mission and vision. As soon as your career will be connected to them, you will not have an internal conflict. You will fully understand why you do it, the reason behind it, it will all start to make sense.
For some of you this questions will be really easy, for other ‚mission impossible’. To make it works in right direction take a piece of paper and a pen, write your answers, truly from your heart. Maybe it will give you unexpected results. From my point of view I can tell you it is really worth to find your own career path, it doesn’t mean your life will be easier, however, it will make much more sense and gives more daily satisfaction, build your confidence and awareness. More fulfillment, less fussiness.
